garment measurements

Please use the measurement pictures provided with each individual garment. Please note that these pictures are taken with the garment laying flat so if you are taking a body measurement you will need to double that for circumference. All garments are meant for any body. Size notes are mentioned for each individual garment, usually described as more boxy or more fitted.

The goal is offer a wide size range (see FAQ below) but no two garments are alike and the sizing of a particular item is often dependent on fabric availability. When dealing with fabric that was thrifted, dyed, repurposed, made from scraps, or chosen specifically for aesthetics, ethos or quality the sizing will be variable!

My best suggestion is to think about how you’d like this particular garment to fit you… for instance - more fitted, a bit oversized? … and then pick a garment you already own that fits you well or in that way you imagine wearing a City Possum garment and measure it just as City Possum garments are pictured, laying flat and fastened.

Ask yourself how much ease you want to have in the garment to be sure that it will fit you in the ways you want (thinking about how you want to use the garment and move in it), and compare.

There are many great videos on how to measure your body and understand ease in a garment.

How will I know if the garment will fit?

FAQ

I don’t post any products until they are completed (approximately every month a drop of new garments will occur) so that means in all likelihood (unless otherwise stated or post office holidays) I will ship out your garment within two days. I use priority post and depending on your location you should have your garment within 6-10 days from ordering.

How long until my order ships?

Currently there is a flat fee of $10 per shipment. Most items are similar in weight and I don’t add additional shipping charges for multiple items.

How are orders shipped?

Not currently…I am figuring that out! Will update the site when/if international shipping is available.

Do you ship internationally?

Wear and tear is inevitable. My hope is that this garment lasts and lasts and that you learn to patch, repair, and care for this garment so that you have it forever. But if there is a major garment malfunction that does not occur from normal wear and tear over time please email me and I will advise or repair for free.

What if the garment comes apart?

We do not currently have the capacity to pay for return shipping. So please use the measurement guide and email any questions before purchasing. Please email for a return shipping address and let us know why you are returning the item - that way we can learn how to better describe items and prevent returns in the future.

The product MUST be returned in its original state - unworn, unwashed by you, and unaltered - or your refund could be denied.

Your return must be postmarked within 10 days of receiving it - after this…all sales are final!

If your shipment is defective or you happen to receive the wrong item we will take care of the return fees.

How can I return my garment?

The answer is likely, no. There is only one designer and sewer at City Possum Threads and much of the fabric is dyed in small batches, thrifted, or chosen specifically for its quality, or ethics. All of these pieces are one of a kind! Trying to keep things relatively simple and unique is a goal of the shop. This is very very slow fashion and many of the choices I make are on a whim and about creativity and experimentation. I do a small number of custom orders and you can email to find out about current availability. If you’d really like to see more types of things in a certain size because you love what I’m doing, let me know!

When will new items arrive in the shop?

City Possum Threads is at multiple markets around East Tennessee. This is a great way to see items in person, try them on, meet the sewer and touch the fabrics! Prices are slightly lower in person due to the time it takes to list and ship. I update the Studio page on our market dates when I know them.
